(STATEMENT) NOTEBOOK / CUADERNO DE IDEAS

Statement

I am very interested in the structure of the brain and how does it work, (how do we think, memorize, how do we have emotions, feelings or even where the intelligence comes from…) Memories, thoughts, feelings… that is what we are as human beings.
I’m keen on, some how, the creation of a link between art and science presenting images on the beauty of the structure of the brain. Pictures as neuronal landscapes, or even as a presentation on the construction of our memories and how they are fixed into the brain, from a personal and artistic point of view.
Enthralled by the mysterious worlds that take place in the architecture of the brain, of the cerebellum… The beauty of the plasticity and the micro-organization of the nervous system like a map or a forest of the paths that follow the nerve impulses across neuronal connections. Trying to unravel some of brain hidden mysteries. One of the questions is how the neuronal woods that constitutes our brain is organized and how those connections can generate the amazing complexity of a human being.
Electro-chemicals impulses, neuronal connections… but at the end just talking about ourselves, about the way we think, we feel and we store our memories to build up the world we think we are living in.

Javier Infantes understands creativity as a language of experimentation, as a method of investigation and acquisition of knowledge, all of this based on the freedom to create. He is interested in traveling towards our inner selves, towards what we are: thought, emotion, feeling memory…

Moreover, he is attracted by our ability to generate intelligence, sensations, recollections…

“Perhaps we are what we remember…” He says.

The recollections make us who we are.

He sees art as a vehicle of knowledge and not a mere representation of what surrounds us.

Javier's work belongs to the most transcendent art. He makes a deep work of synthesis to reach the pure concept, he researches about the essences of the deepest thoughts, and he also tracks in the philosophical approaches of existence, from the authenticity of an infinite and unfathomable search. Javier is allowed to play with different techniques, applied on wood or canvas, he develops a very personal informalist style, which dominates the matter ("Interior and Gold" and "implosion "), along with suggestive pieces of black background, which he calls "fragments- remembrance" in the "Landscape of Memory", or rationalist works as the two small geometric diptychs of the series "Labyrinth".

The Air Like Support. To do way planning.

Towards a creation based on the constant experimentation, to trust art as a vehicle of knowledge and not only as a mere representation of what surrounds us. To investigate. To present a new world drawing. Art like that one that can heal us of life. To have the hope that art some day could manage to cure to each one of us, if it was possible.
To breathe, undoubtedly, (more than once and deeply), before taking any decision. We commit the same mistakes because we do not breathe or because we do not know how to do it correctly. To learn to breathe to be able to draw. To be fed by the air.
To create with the slight thing and in the emptiness. The noise is deafening and confuses us. To flee of the hurry that disturbs us.

His works are exposed nowadays in Stoa gallery http://www.stoagallery.com/

El Aire Como Soporte. Hacer camino trazando.
